This 289:1 ratio gearbox powered the first CAT scanner platform. The platform enclosed the patient and rotated to obtain the complete scan. Stability, high reduction, and quiet operation were the features that governed the engineer’s decision to use Gearing Solutions® roller gears. The deciding feature, however, was its compact size.
