Differential Gear Sets
Differential
Gear Sets consist of 2 cycloidal gear sets mounted back
to back. They turn in opposite directions. The reduction
ratio is the difference between the ratios of the gear
sets. Many successful applications include parking lot
gates, winches, cranes and machine tools. Reductions
ranging from 59.5/1 to 595/1 are available from this
configuration. Ratios can be calculated from the diagram
using the formula R= (B/A-B * D/B-C) where:

A=
# of pitches in the input compound gear
B = # of pitches in the mating oscillating gear
C= # of pitches in the mating oscillating gear
D = # of pitches in the input compound gear
In this case:
A = 36
B = 34
C = 32
D = 34
Giving a ratio of 289 to 1
